The more I read in this discussion group, the more I like you guys!
There is a real connection between the Texas Revolution and the Black Hawk War. Joseph Chadwick, who would be Fannin's adjutant at Goliad, had served as Governor Reynold's aide in the BHW. Also, the Polish officers who served on Fannin's artillery had lived in the Galena area prior to heading for Texas.

Kevin,
Wasn't Joe's father the regimental surgeon for the 7th at Gibson? Seems I read that in something I had about Chadwick.

Seems that I remember that as well. Of course, Joe was at Fort Gibson himself with Dodge's Expedition. Catlin has a lot of nice things to say about him.
