Nick, We have discussed daylong interpretive programs at Heights with the DNR. They have indicated interest, but that's as far as things have gone.
The DNR will not allow overnight camping, and there is no water at the site. Beyond that, a daylong program is very do-able.
See you at Heights this Satudray at 10 AM. Look for my silver Mercury sedan. Meet you in the parking lot.
Bob.

In this thread we discussed reasons why Black Hawk and his followers came to this site on the Wisconsin River and gave opinions on the degree of traversing knowledge the Sauk would of had.
I find Spoon Decorah's statement interesting.
"The return of Paquette's party, a week or so later, told us of the defeat at the Sauk bluffs."
Source: "Narrative of Spoon Decorah", Wisconsin Historical Collections, Vol. XIII, p 453
This quote suggests to me that the 18th century Sauk village located at present day Sauk City - Prairie du Sac remained a oral history landmark for all tribes of the immediate region.
The white man named the region Wisconsin Heights and now we have the Indian counterpart - Sauk Bluffs.
