Members and associates... I have pre-registered a large contingent for ARF, which includes all those who spoke to me at the Springfield "Lincoln Museum Dedication." Nearly all these registrations have been acknowledged by the site. Please remember that this year, you will need to fill out a registration form once you arrive on site. Please comply with this requirement. If you want me to register you, please reply to this thread or send me an email pronto! This is a "militia event," and ALL impressions-- men, women, and young people are needed. We are all looking forward to a great "opposing forces" event at ARF! Regards, Bob Braun Secretary, OLRHS.

bob whats up with this? something new Joe Joe... yes, this is a change over previous events. Not wishing to speak for the site manager, my guess is that the site is trying to get a better handle on its volunteer attendees though inproved record-keeping. They MAY have had something like this last year, but I personally don't recall if I filled one out or not. Word is there will probably be more indians than last year, although my "Spy Company" reports that one of the female volunteers at ARF may already be "volunteered" or has volunteered to run into the woods to "shoot at us." I have "pre-registered" you, so the site knows you are coming. See you Friday night. Bob.

Congrats to the folks at Apple River Fort and another edition of "Fire on the Frontier!" Good food... great music Saturday evening... cartridges in abundance... and a chance to renew old freindships and make new ones! And kudos to the Old Lead Region Historical Society! Our participation has grown to the point where our membership provided fully HALF of the militia compliment of the fort. We had three-quarters of our Society officers there, including President Pete Shrake! Extra appreciation must go to Betsy Urven for her outstanding interpretation as "Elizabeth Armstrong," and to Ian Urven and Andrew Braun, for providing extra interpretation of loading muskets for a firer during the "skirmish"... the only folks to do this documented interpretation that I saw or knew about. Well done! It didn't rain enough for my taste but I decided to stay on anyway... "for the good of the order!" Looking forward to next year's 'Fire on the Frontier" at Fortress Monroe... oooops... Jefferson Barracks....ummmm I mean Apple River Fort! ;D Respectfully submitted, Bob Braun
