For those unable to attend, you missed an informative and interesting "Annual Meeting" of the OLRHS, and an outstanding talk on lead digging in Wisconsin by Mr. Loren Farry (Mr. Farry recently published the spiral bound book on the lead mines of Wisconsin... essentailly a driving tour of the principle sites in the southwestern corner of the state.)
Some highlights...
1. President Pete is very near establishing our Society as a 501(c) (3) corporation. He has done an extraordinary amount of work on this, and we are indebted to him for his efforts.
2. Mary is looking to transfer the office of "Treasurer," as her term has expired. She will hold on to the position in the interim. We hope that an interested member will step forward and assume this important office. Mary will be more than happy to guide you, so you need not think you'll be assuming this role all alone! Please contact me if you are interested (this office is APPOINTED, according to our by-laws, so you need not stand for election!)
3. Our profound thanks to Bill Breihan, who agreed to serve as "Recording Secretary for our meetings;
4. More than 500 hours of interpretive service was provided by our Society thus far this calendar year;
5. Our publishing "experiment" with Phalanx Press is about to take off, so watch the website...!
More will be forthcoming in the winter edition of the newsletter.
For those of you interested in a copy of Mr. Farry's excellent publication, our Society purchased 10 copies from Mr. Farry. Your copy may be obtained from the Treasurer for $15 (postage extra). Please make your check out to "Old Lead Region Historical Society."
Regards,
Bob Braun
Secretary.
