Hello everyone,
I would like to call a meeting of the OLRHS sometime in January. This meeting would serve not only as a business meeting (we have plenty of housekeeping matters to take care of), it would also be our annual meeting with an election of officers. We also need to look at our events schedule for 2006. Joe Kleffman has kindly agreed to be our speaker - presenting on clothing of the 1830's.
I propose either the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in January. Location is yet to be determined. What is the sentiment of the group?

I would say the second Saturday would work better for us.
Best, Bob.

It looks like Saturday the 14th might work for people, Mark And Sue Miller have again kindly offered us thier home in Greys Lake, Illinois. Sue tells me there are friendly cats about the home so if anyone has allergies please say so and we can always reconsider a new meeting site.
Here is the directions to the Miller home as Su sent them to me.
“Address to Casa de Miller is: 361 Kerry Way Grayslake, IL 60030 We are just off of Rt. 120 in Grayslake. Kerry way is across the street from the Condell Medical Building. On our corner there is a new office building with an orthodontist in it and he has a big sign with some ugly teeth on it. So, look for the ugly teeth and turn. We are the 2nd house on the left on Kerry Way. Park on the townhouse side of the street.”
Otherwise, tentatively lets plan on the 14th, at the Miller homestead. If I do not hear any objections by next Week Wednesday the 28th We will consider it a go. I will then send out agendas and post them on this board, prior to the meeting. Which does bring up a second important subject, Agenda-I have a rough one laid out but are there any issues anyone would like to see brought up at the meeting?

My thanks to president Pete Shrake for chairing a good meeting on January 14. The issues were interesting, complex and occasionally thorny, however I must commend Pete for his clear thinking and good leadership. Well done! You may not be aware of this, but vice-president Betsy Urven has revamped our informational brochure for 2006. I had a chance to preview it at the meeting, and it looks great! Thanks, Betsy for your great work on this! Joe Kleffman did an outstanding job with his presentation on perid artifact clothing fom the 1820s-1830s. His program was a real "eye opener" into clothing availability and construction. (Hey Betsy! Look! Ladies pockets dated 1837! How fascinating! ) Our sincere thanks to Su and Marc Miller for hosting our Annual Meeting at their lovely home in Grayslake, IL. It was a real treat, and we all appreciated their warmth and hospitality. THANKS! My appreciation to all who attended! Regarding the June date at Pendarvis, the target date was Saturday June 17, with a seperate "Pub Night" scheduled for that evening. I have sent an email to the site to confirm. After this, I will update our events schedule for 2006. Best regards... Bob Braun Secretary
