Addressing the question of discipline, what have you read? GMC If memory serves, there are numerous orders and circulars in Whitney that speak to specific situations where the men will "not do this" or refrain from that," which of course indicates that "this" or "that" was precisely what was going on. Seems like militia companies elected either a.) leaders they thought would do a good job or b.) leaders they thought they could buffalo. The historical record would indicate that Lincoln and Elisha Iles would probably fall into the "a" catagory, while Clack Stone (dare I say it?) might have fallen into the "b" catagory. Interesting survey! Bob.
