At some point, the OLRHS should sponsor a survey of the battle site, in an attempt to correlate the only known battle map (in the Salter book) with the existing ground at Blackhawk State Park outside Woodford.
I have a topo of the area, and we can start with a map correlation... if possible. One local fellow I know who hunted in that area might be able to be contacted for assisstance.
I have already located one local source that seems to identify the ridge mentioned by Charles Bracken in his accounts.

I know an individual who is a surveyor and might be willing to help out. In any case we ought to have a field trip out there this summer and walk over the site.

OK, Pete, but when we go, be sure to bring your mosquito repellant!
I was there with Mike in June last year, and the swarms of little buggers almost carried us away.
We're talking clouds of them!

I know what your talking about, last summer i had made a visit to the Wisconsin Heights site. I was there for 5 minutes and literally had to run off the site because of those nasty bugs. This mild winter will make for some nasty mosquito populations.
