Hi all, Just out of curosity, and looking into for a BHW toy soldier set up, first of all would the milita have it's flags? If so, what would they look like? Or would they only be issued national banners? -DJ

Or would they only be issued national banners? -DJ Militia flags are a real question mark at this point. We know that some Illinois militia regiments had them, because there are rosters that list a color-bearer. We know that Dodge was awarded a flag in Galena, as were other prominant militia leaders. Now what these flags looked like I am rather unclear. My best guess is that they were the National colors. No flags were issued to militia by the Federal government for the Black Hawk War, so far as I have been able to uncover. These were hand-made creations, sewn by local women. Regards, Bob.
