In William R. Smith's The History of Wisconsin Vol. 3? pp. 268 we find the following:
Greg Carter has alluded to this attack in other threads. What else do we know about this attack, and what details are known about the blockhouse and its defenders? What do we know about the war-party?
It might well be that Apple River Fort has lost its status as the only fort directly attacked during the Black Hawk War. Perhaps even the strongpopints at Kellogg's Grove could be considered in this discussion as well...
Regards, Bob.

The mention of an attack in June is incorrect. According to two sources I have, the attack was on a Sunday, and before the 23rd of May 1832, when it was featured in The Galenian. This would suggest it happened the same weekend of the attack on Indian Creek, and only one day or so after William Durley was killed on the Galena Road (possibly by the same party?)
