As part of a "Battles and Bastions" tour with a new OLRHS member, we visited the WH battlesite as a conclusion of our swing through a number of fort, event, and battle sites.
Trails were all evident, but an annoyingly tall grown of thorn scrub impeded some movement, particularly up "Sharpshooter Overlook" and "Black Hawk's Mound." Will the leaves gone, the views were much improved, even from BH's Mound. The relocated bridge reamains in excellent shape.
As the ground was partially frozen, there was little evidence of recent visitation save a few deer tracks.
All signs remain intact, and there appears to be no additonal vandalism to markers and the site monument.
Regards, Bob.
