was Peleg Coffin a soldier in the Black Hawk Wars?

I'm trying to determine if an ancestor of mine was involved in the Black Hawk wars. Peleg Coffin may have been a soldier, but I don't find him listed in the Illinois list on the web. He later had a daughter who is reportedly Saux and Fox and it's been suggested that the mother might have been captured during the wars. Any information would be appreciated.
