Is anyone familiar with this book:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Armstrong, Perry A. The Sauks and the Black Hawk War, with Biographical Sketches, etc. Springfield, IL: H.W. Rokker, 1887.
I found it to be very interesting, although a bit rambly. New reprints are available.

I used interlibrary loan, so I wouldn't know. I would imagine Amazon or your local bookstore could help if you wanted to purchase a copy.
He certainly captured the psychological mind-set of the times-- of whites who had "gone native" to a degree. That rambly style is evidence of that.

Interesting analysis of the book.
Not to make too fine a spearpoint of this, ;D , but next time you put down "new reprints are available", I would suggest some kind of more reliable location than "I wouldn't know" before answering.
There are many people on this forum who spend countless hours digging for the smallest fragments of reliable information on the native peoples involved in this conflict, and the false hope of a reprint of primary source material is very frustrating. I have been to every library within 60 mins. drive from my home and I have never seen that book. I can say the same for bookstores as well.
