Is it true that recent archaelogical work has been done at the site of the BHW militia Fort Beggs or otherwise known as Walker's Fort near the present city of Plainfield, Illinois. Any information would be appreciated...

Hi! I'm new to your forum, but a Black Hawk War researcher of many years. Living in Joliet, I drive regulary by the present site of a monument that has been placed in Plainfield on the "supposed" site of Ft. Beggs. It is on the SW Corner of the present central High School Campus. It has a monument and flagpole erected to commemorate the fort. As far as I know there is no archaeology ongoing at that site and I'm not sure that there is much really known about the site of Walker's and the Reverand Begg's blockhouse.
