It has been FAR too long since I have been on the board, so I thought I would post a link to show pictures of the figures I will be using to recreate the Battle of Pecatonica on tabletop. The company who makes these figures is called Conquest Miniatures, and the figures measure 28mm from sole to eye. They are cast in a white metal composition (no lead) and are sold unpainted. While the figures shown are made to represent Sauk and Fox, I will be using them as Kickapoo for Pecatonica. www.conquestminiatures.com/woodlandindiansfox1.htmand www.conquestminiatures.com/future_releases.htmAlso, I am still trying to find "good" books on the Black Hawk War. I have Mr. Braun's Bloody Lake, Eckert's Twilight of Empire, Black Hawk's autobiography, and Thayer's Hunting a Shadow. I have read most of Mr. Braun's reviews of other Black Hawk titles on Amazon, but it appears that any title that might be good is long out of print or sold by used book dealers at extremely high prices. Suggestions? Thanks! Darryl

Interesting project you have undertaken, Darryl. Perhaps you could submit a picture of the finished item.
I would like to comment on your statement: "While the figures shown are made to represent Sauk and Fox, I will be using them as Kickapoo for Pecatonica."
The "jury is out" so to speak on the actual tribual affiliation of the warriors killed at the horseshoe bend on the Pecatonica River. As part of the mission statement of the Board Moderators on this message board they have encouraged participants to take modern and contemporary accepted historical "facts" and challenge them. Please refer to the thread or topic: WHO LED THE KICKAPOO AT PECATONICA? found under the subject NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES OF THE BLACK HAWK WAR.
I think you will find a compelling argument that Kickapoo warriors were not killed at the Pecatonica.

Larry,
I have read that thread with great interest. I guess the "good" thing for me is the fact that the dress and hair style worn on these figures will allow me to use them to represent Sauk, Fox, or Kickapoo with some latitude.
Indeed, I will post pictures of finshed figures (and the game in progress) once I get this priject really rolling along. The second batch of figures will not be released until early next year sometime so it will be awhile before I'll have pics to post.
Thanks! Darryl
