Dr. C. V. Porter's field investigations and subsequent writings indicated that the trail of the remnants of Black Hawk's band... and apparently the pursuing American Army... passed over land that (we are told) became the front dooryard of a Dr. Bean. Dr. Porter eventiually erected an engraved marker near the site to commemorate BH's passage in the vicinity. Unfortunately, the house-- still standing during Bill Starke's investigation for his book Along the Black Hawk Trail-- is now gone. A modern structure now stands in the vicinity. Do any readers know where the site of Dr. Bean's home was, in relationship to the now-refurbished (or replaced) Porter marker? Is the new construction built on any portion of the original foundation? My thanks for any help.... Bob.
