In the MT Militia section we have discussed blacking leather goods. My question here is- how does one whiten leather goods to keep them looking sharp?

In the MT Militia section we have discussed blacking leather goods. My question here is- how does one whiten leather goods to keep them looking sharp? GMC Grge and all... If memory serves, I believe white crossbelts were kept while by a light coating of kaolin (white clay) and water, done up in a paste. This may be an older means of keeping belts white, so I defer to those with post-Revolutionary War readings on this item. Regards, Bob.
