To all living historians and others interested in the BHW. I have been in the works for about two years to get a living history event at Kellogg's Grove in Kent,IL. Well this year it is happening. If you are interested in participating please contact me asap. As of right now I have the Apple River Fort militia and some of the New Salem folks helping out. The basic agenda goes as follows: We are rededicating the monument in Kent and honoring the fallen dead. We will march in and rededicate the monument. We will be provided with lunch on Saturday and the chance to set up camp June 22nd (Friday) I have some camping there now but welcome more.
This is strictly a living history and will be a remembrance of the 180th. After this year there will be a event once a year at the monument in June. I welcome inquirers and participation. We accept dignitaries from the area and approximately 175 visitors. It will be a great outlet for the hobby and hopefully cause a interest in bringing it back.
Native Americans from the Meskawki tribe may show up as well. June 23,2012 at 11:00am is the event. Camping the night before is very welcome.
