I am writing a paper on the participation of Grant county (mainly Platteville) in the Black Hawk War. I know Rountree played a pretty big role, but could use more information about not only him but also any other people who would become residence of Platteville who fought in the war.

My great great great grandfather Irvin O'Harra was in command of Rountrees fort or Ft. Dodge. He went into the smelting buisness with a guy named Hopper , O'Harra and Hopper. Irvins son Irwin married Leonard Coates daughter in platteville , Leonard coates was also in tge smelting buisness.
