Sunday February 2 I believe is the date of our next quarterly meeting. As usual, the time and place is the 12:00 at the Stockade Resturant in Fort Atkinson, unless there is any request for a change of location.
We have lots to discuss. Please send me any Agenda requests before that Saturday, February 1. Right now tentative agenda items are:
Call to Order Approval/ additions of Agenda
Minutes
Reports Treasurer's Report Old Business Chairs Report- persuit of non-profit status.
New Business Historical Marker program searching for Militia Muster Rolls
Presentation We need a presentation
The meeting is open to anyone who wishes to come. As our mission statement says, "The purpose of the Old Lead Region Historical Society shall be to bring together those people interested in history, and especially in the history of the United States Lead Mines (as defined by the R.W. Chandler map of 1829), Wisconsin, Illinois and surrounding and pertinent area. The Society shal also endeavor to research, study, preserve and interpret the history of the Red Bird rising of 1827, and the Sauk War of 1832 (known popularly as the Black Hawk War)."
So everyone is welcome, you do not need to be a member of the OLRHS in order to attend this meeting.

Mr. President,
Since I negelected to acquaint you with the minutes from the November meeting, our presenter shall be member Bill Breihan, who will talk on "Travels"--- the where and how folks got to and around in the Mineral District. It should prove a fascinating discussion!

Actually, if I had attended the last meeting, like I should have, I would have known about our next speaker as well ;D

I agree with Greg,
Bills presentation was outstanding! Bill has a rare and important collection of papers relating to this period, his efforts into researching and understanding those papers reflect the work of a first rate historian!
It was also a good meeting. For those who missed it, we discussed the new website, the search for non-profit status, and upcoming events. We also briefly discussed the historical marker program, and the search for Militia Muster Rolls.
I beleive I can honestly state that everyone had a good time. I think we can look foreward to another good year for the OLRHS!
