Thanks to Nick Hoffman, the OLRHS is looking to sponsor a booth at Brian Bradley's "Echoes of the Past" Trade Faire in Oshkosh, WI in February, 2003. This is a Saturday and Sunday event, with the expectation that we will provide a display and man the booth for BOTH days. Both costumed and non-costumed OLRHS members are invited to attend. This is a great way to talk to folks about the Mineral District, Bllack Hawk's War, and early Wisconsin history. If you have never been to Brian Bradley's trade faire, it is quite an experience. There's something for everyone... and I have not failed in the past few years to find some trinkets I couldn;t live without. It's also a great way to shake off the winter doldrums and renew old freindships. Brian is a personal friend of mine, and he has been wanting to get us up there for a couple of years now. Thanks to Nick, 2003 will probably be our year. Please contact me if you can help out with manning our OLRHS booth. Craft and display items are welcome! I don't know if I can make it. It's such a long drive for me. Count me in. I'm sure I can help out both days. Everyone knows what an exhibitionist I am. ;D Laurel, Sauk War Goddess

The Trade Fair is a great event...I've been attending it for years. Just like Bob said, the Trade Fair has a lot of nice items to purchase from Merchants. Many of the items are from earlier periods or skinner, but if you dig around a lot, you can find some appropriate stuff.
The best part is recruitment and meeting new people. I think that a lot of people will have a draw to our history. Most of the units at the event portray history from the east coast. If we stress the locality of the conflict and the locality of our reenactments, we'll create a lot of interest.
However we will only be provided with one folding table for our organization display. So we will have to work with our minimal space.
Later, Nick Hoffman

I think we should do this. I can't confirm my schedule at this very moment, but I would like to help out.

Thanks to Nick Hoffman, the OLRHS is registering for a table with my good friend Brian Bradley's "Echoes of the Past" Trade Faire on February 22-23, 2002.
It is important to stress that this is a TWO day committment. We will need persons, on and off, to man our contact table for both days. Our table will have displays on the Lead Region, cover lead mining and daily living within the Lead District, as well as early Wisconsin and Illinois history. We will also have an exhibit on the BHW and the militia. There is still plenty of misconceptions and popular history out there, which we can address in a professional and knowledgable fashion.
I have been to this event for several years now as a spectator, and can tell you that this is a nice gathering, where we'll have an opportunity to meet many new folks, and renew old friendships. Plus, its a nice way to break with winter doldrums.
BTW, since we are an historical society, we invite all members, either in historical dress or casual business attire, to attend all or part of this event.
Please contact Bob Braun, Secretary, for more information. Directions will be printed in the next issue of the newsletter.

Thnks to the efforts of Nick Hofmann, the OLRHS has been accepted, and will sponsor a table at the "Echoes of the Past Trade Faire in Oshkosh, WI. This is an excellent opportunity to see old friends, meet some new ones, and fill any holes in our impressions prior to the upcoming season. Likewise, this is a unique opportunity to talk about the Mineral District, Lead mining, and conflicts like the Winnebago War and Black Hawk's War. We'll also have a stack of membership applications at the table as well! This is a Saturday and Sunday event, with the expectation that we will provide a display and man the booth for BOTH days. Both costumed and non-costumed members are needed. Please contact me if you can help out with manning our booth. Craft and display items are welcome! My thanks to all OLRHS members who attended the Trade Faire event! It was a great success...due in no small part to everyone's efforts! Plus, we had a great time! Although cramped, our booth was I think among the very best there-- professionally laid out and expertly hosted by the membership. Thanks to Laurel's brochures, we had a handout for folks, and we distributed MANY on Saturday...probably close to 80? Plus, Laurel's 'johhny jump ups interactive projects for the kids visiting the booth was a great hit! Thanks go out to Pete, Kim, Laurel, Nick, Anne, Karl, Mary, and Rachel, Rion, Ben and Andrew for all their help! And again... thanks to Nick for laying the groundwork for this opportunity!
